A place for
the whole story

The Listening Finch is a counselling practice for adults who want to slow down and understand why certain feelings, patterns or decisions keep pulling at them, rather than just finding another way to get through the week.

You might be moving through a life transition, sitting with feelings you cannot name yet, or trying to understand a part of yourself you have kept quiet about. I often work with LGBTQIA+ people, people living with HIV, and people working in the creative and performing arts.

Counselling here does not need to move quickly. We can follow what feels present, rather than what you think you are supposed to say.

“Slow is not the same as stuck”

Counselling can offer a place to slow things down enough to notice what has been hard to name. You do not need to arrive with everything clearly understood before beginning.

AREAS OF FOCUS

Who I work with

People come to counselling for many different reasons. Some of what I often sit alongside includes:

HOW I WORK

What you can expect

Choosing a counsellor is personal, and it is fine to take your time deciding. My approach is person-centred: you set the direction, I follow it, and I may reflect something back, ask a question, or stay with something when it seems worth looking at more closely.

I am not going to hand you a five-step plan. Some sessions will feel like progress. Some will feel like sitting with something uncomfortable a little longer. Both can be part of the work.

SERVICES

How Can I Help?

One-to-one counselling, available in person and online. The work does not become less personal because it happens through a screen. The format is simply about what suits your life, your week, and how you prefer to meet.

Face-to face counselling in a quiet room in Camperdown.

Online counselling

Video sessions from your own space, wherever you are in Australia.
