Individual Counselling

Individual counselling gives you time to talk about what is happening without needing to arrive with a clear explanation, or already know what needs to change. Sessions are available in person in Camperdown and online. The format is different; the work is not.

In-Person Counselling

Face-to-face counselling in a private room in Camperdown.

For some people, being in the same room makes it easier to settle into the conversation and put some distance between counselling and the rest of the day.

Online Counselling

Video counselling from your own space.

Online sessions can work well if travel is difficult, time is limited, or you simply prefer meeting from home. You will need somewhere reasonably private where you can speak without being interrupted.

Area of Support

What can I help with

People come to counselling for many different reasons. You do not need to fit neatly into one of these areas, but some of the things I commonly work with include:

Practical Information

Session Details

Duration

Initial counselling sessions are 60 minutes.

Ongoing sessions are 50 minutes.

Fees

Initial 60-minute session: $170

Ongoing 50-minute session: $170

Medicare rebates are not available for counselling sessions.

Frequency

Many people begin with weekly sessions. We can discuss a different frequency if that makes more sense for you and the work we are doing.

Approach

I work from a person-centred foundation, with integrative and trauma-informed approaches where they are useful.

Getting Started

How it works

Getting started is fairly straightforward.

01

Initial contact

Get in touch through the contact form or by email. I will respond within 24–48 hours and we can work out what you would like to do next.

02

Free Initial call

If you would like one, we can arrange a free 15-minute phone call before booking a session.

It is a chance to briefly talk about what is bringing you to counselling, ask questions, and get a sense of whether working together feels right. You do not need to tell me your whole story in 15 minutes.

03

First session

If you decide to go ahead, the first session is 60 minutes.

There is no expectation that you arrive with everything organised or know where to begin. We can start with what brought you into the room and see where the conversation takes us.

04

Initial contact

Ongoing sessions are 50 minutes.

We might continue with something that has already emerged, return to something from an earlier session, or start somewhere completely different because that is what feels present that day.

If you need support right now

The Listening Finch is not a crisis or emergency service, and sessions are not able to provide urgent support. If you need immediate help, please use the services below.
