ABOUT ME

Hello, I’m Ant

The Listening Finch

I’m a counsellor who believes meaningful change begins with being deeply heard. The Listening Finch grew from a desire to offer a calm, reflective space where people can explore identity, life transitions, and what sits beneath the surface of everyday experience.

Alongside my professional training, my perspective is also shaped by lived experience. This allows me to meet conversations around identity, health, and personal change with openness, curiosity, and respect for each person’s individual story.

MY APPROACH

Person-Centred

I work from a person-centred foundation, which means I see you as the expert on your own life. My role is to offer empathy, genuine understanding, and a calm, grounded space where you can explore your experiences at your own pace.

While this way of working shapes how I show up, I also draw thoughtfully from a range of therapeutic perspectives, depending on what feels most supportive for you.

Compassionate Presence

I believe in meeting you where you are, without judgment. Your feelings are valid, and your experiences matter.

Safety

Creating a secure and confidential space where you can explore your thoughts freely is central to my work.

Collaboration

Counselling is a collaborative process. We work together at your pace, with care and attention to what feels important for you.

MY BACKGROUND

Training & Qualifications

PACFA Registration: Mr Anthony Finch, PACFA Reg.Certified Practising 33012

Qualification: Bachelor of Counselling, ACAP

Alongside formal training, my work is also guided by a quieter philosophy about listening, presence, and the search for personal meaning.

My Philosophy

I believe each person carries a quiet capacity for insight, growth, and change. Sometimes that capacity simply needs the right conditions to unfold.

The finch is not there to direct the song. It listens for it. In the same way, my role is to offer a thoughtful and open space where you can explore what feels true for you, and begin to hear your own voice more clearly.
